Region 1-AAAA, which includes Hardaway and Harris County, will play the other eight teams in the region for football the next two seasons.
Harris County athletic director Bryce Robinson said it's still to be determined whether the region will sub-divide for all the other sports. He prefers the a sub-divided region to limit the amount of travel. That was the same reason that the Tigers petitioned the GHSA to change regions, which was rejected.
If the region splits, it would likely be Harris County, Hardaway, Jones County, Upson-Lee and Westside-Macon. The other side would be Lee County, Thomas County Central, Bainbridge and Americus-Sumter. This is what the GHSA recommended.
Harris County will open the football season with Eastside and Northeast-Macon before region plays starts, according to Harris County coach Tommy Parks.
